FAST ANSWER / FIRST WEEK
Choose your route goal before the first irreversible branch.
The supplied notes recommend keeping Angelica, recruiting Goberto in cycle 2, then deciding whether to pursue Chester, The Wolf, Goberto's Perfect Armour, Dulahan, or the Gavault daughter/mother split. You can test these in separate runs, but they should not be flattened into one guaranteed route.
- Keep Angelica alive and available for Kill the Beast.
- Recruit Goberto around cycle 2 and checkpoint before dangerous quests.
- For Chester, advance Goose Part 2 with Cheese, Horse, or unreformed Gwendan.
- For The Wolf, use Angelica on Kill the Beast and check the special result.
- For Perfect Armour, protect Goberto and test The Great Duel in Almor.
- For Dulahan, take the Goberto-death route and check again after two cycles.
- Choose Brunhilda through the Gavault daughter route or Tarcus through the mother route.
- Avoid sending Goberto to The Bloody Magpie for a routine success test.
- After a failure, rewind with one changed variable instead of discarding the whole run.
Priority one: preserve the opening options
Angelica is the key to the reported Wolf route, while Goberto is the key to the early Perfect Armour or Dulahan split. Protect both until you know which branch this run is testing.
- Record the cycle and open table before each route choice
- Keep a checkpoint before a named special-result quest
- Do not spend a route-critical knight on a low-value normal success
Priority two: decide between mutually exclusive goals
The supplied notes frame Goberto's Perfect Armour and Dulahan as separate experiences. A clean first run should choose one as the main goal, then use a second checkpoint or run for the other. This is more reliable than trying to force every recruit into one timeline.
- Goberto route: The Great Duel, reported armor upgrade, Perfect Armour
- Dulahan route: Goberto death, wait two cycles, then verify the new knight
- Gavault route: Brunhilda for the daughter path or Tarcus for the mother path
Priority three: use special results before raw scores
The task notes recommend checking special results first, then the required number of knights and visible stat requirements. That rule explains why Angelica, Goberto, Victoria, Chester, or The Wolf can outperform a higher average-stat party on a named quest.
How to recover from a failed route
Do not restart immediately after a failure. Save the exact state, rewind if available, change one assignment or choice, and compare the new result. Keep knowledge gained from the first branch separate from the reward or penalty that changed.
